What Causes Homelessness?

The term “homelessness” does not mean a person is actually homeless.

It means a person lacks a stable home that can support him or her. Without a home, homeless individuals cannot access essential services and support like electricity, heating and cooling, running water, or regular trash collection.

These aspects of the homelessness continuum affect a person’s quality of life and, ultimately, contribute to health problems, including respiratory diseases like pneumonia and bacterial infections.

Individuals who suffer from mental illness may be forced to wander the streets because it is easier for them to find shelter than to find a treatment center.

Who are the Most Vulnerable? The homeless population is both male and female.

The Current State of Homelessness

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development states that about one in every every 100 Americans is homeless or on the verge of homelessness.

In the 1960’s, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development counted about 600,000 homeless people.

As the years went on, the number of homeless people steadily increased, reaching an all-time high of more than 50,000 homeless people in 2015.

One in five people experiencing homelessness said they are chronically homeless, meaning they have been homeless on and off for at least one year in the past year.

For most of those experiencing homelessness, it’s likely they have some sort of mental illness, substance use disorder or both.

Nationwide, there are many efforts by local governments to address homelessness.

In recent years, there has been more attention paid to homelessness in the U.S. by the federal government.

This increased attention has encouraged new local solutions, such as ending veteran homelessness and ending youth homelessness.

In San Diego, a new community-based shelter has been proposed for 2021, after the Brawley facility closes in 2019.

It would be a community shelter instead of a residential one.

The proposed San Diego community shelter will be located in a 23-acre (9.3-hectare) area located in the I-15 median, near the intersection of I-15 and 58th Street in National City.

If elected president in 2020, Sen. Warren’s first action would be to sign the Comprehensive Plan for Economic Growth and Employment Act, into law.

This act mandates a plan for rapid job growth and economic development within the United States within the next decade.

He would also order a review of all government regulations to be sure that they are compatible with or cannot be circumvented by the private sector.

Additionally, he would initiate action to decrease healthcare costs, including by repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act.

And finally, he would move the United States to become fossil fuel-free by 2050, a goal that is both important for our environment and our economy.

Additionally, Sen. Warren would tackle child care by establishing universal child care.
